2006-09-15 - 1st coffee
midnight oil
Luckily, the coffee in the second floor cafeteria is free and decent, ie strong, so even on my second day this week of arriving in Secaucus raggedly hungover on 4 hours of sleep, I can manage to look semi-alert, bad hair notwithstanding. After a shitty double feature (The Illusionist and Invincible) with Ryan and Till, I met Marco for our 12:00am "business meeting" at Soda. I had to rescue him from captain boring who was trying to hit on him by telling him all about his job as some kind of 'accountant' ("No, I'm not kidding. I'm very good at my job.") which sounded an awful lot like 'personal assistant' as he was trying to tell us some complicated story about these hijinks involved in booking his boss' travel. Moreover, Marco had somehow bought this joker a drink. I was all, dude, you have got this whole thing backwards. We escaped to the back room and ended up hanging out with Brendan and his friend Brian from NYU. Talked about how to get an advance copy of the new Thomas Pynchon and our favorite topic, why Ryan makes us crazy. So that naturally took up a lot of time. So by the time Marco and I got down to "business" that basically consisted of picking out songs on the jukebox, dissing the script, and several rounds of 'one more beer? No... well, let's split one. Okay.' Got in the door by 3am, had a chocolate and seltzer snack, decided to watch an episode of Arrested Development that I don't remember, and slept naked listening to the rain. Also, there is this big grey cat outside my building who loves me and is really pregnant and I'm wondering if the cat-scratch-fever howling I heard two nights ago was her having a million little grey babies. In which case, kitten party!
